When the pros want something wierd where do they go? That's where I come
in. The reason I got into building amps in the first place is because
noone was making what I wanted. I always wanted to offer that to anyone
else. Over the years I've done numerous requests and cutom builds for
clients who had something special in mind, cosmetics, features, whatever.
I'll show a few of these special little beasts. Maybe one of these will
inspire you.
the
GhostPepper
40 watts from 4 x 6V6 power tubes. 2 channels; clean and super hot rodded.
Bias adjustment for each power tube. 2 - 12" Jensen Tornado neodymium
speakers. Light-weight killer tone! Custom 2x12" combo cabinet w/Plum
Crazy metallic paint w/black racing stripe, painted by Jeska Savage.
BuzzBomb Custom
18 watt BuzzBomb w/ reverb and tube rectifier. Finished in "Sublime"
green.
ChunkZilla!
100 watt master volume-style w/KT88 tubes. Rusty steel chassis hand painted
by Cliff of San Marcos. Stained cabinet made from San Marcos Gnarlywood.
A hard-rockin' beastie to be sure!!
D-Type
50 watt Dumble-style amp built for Rick Derringer. 2x 6L6 tubes, dual
bias adjust, footswitchable overdrive. A real sweetie!
Custom Powermatic
This was a Fender Twin Reverb chassis and cabinet that a customer sent
us. We rebuilt the amp as a channel-switching Marshall-style. We used
the stock twin power tranny, put in a new Plexi-style output and choke,
new turretboard, pots, jacks, relay switching, etc. Also new custom faceplate.
The cabinet was recoverd by Will at Armadillo Amp Works and a new speaker
grille was added. A real hot rod amp!
the WAVYwatter
A custom version of the HEAVYwatter w/tremolo added. Tre' cool! Dig the
steel "roll cage" to protect the tubes!
the Ofay
20 watts w/ 2 x 6V6 and 2 x 12AX7 tubes. Sort of a hot-rodded tweed circuit,
the beginnings of the RatRod amp. I always liked the look of this one.
the Dragon
One of my first all custom builds. This guy wanted the whole enchilada;
100 watts, 2 channels w/seperate controls, active FX loop. Lots of cool
details went into this one. Chassis finished in House Of Kolor Pagan Gold
Candy. One of the most beautiful chassis I've built.
the Banzai
100 watts w/4 x 6L6s, a single channel clean amp w/ reverb. Hell yeah,
we do clean!! Think of it as the baddest TwinReverb you never heard!
